Serena Joy

Picture
Watching Serena Joy dance is a little like being a snake in front of a charmer. There is something hypnotic about the mix of the nail on board and the sinuous arc of Serena's arm and spine.
As with many true dancers, it was the family joke that Serena dance before she could walk, it was obvious form her youngest eyars that Serena's manifestation of creativity was expression through dance.
'I started Ballet when I was four and remember wanting so much to be able to do it properly and become a famous ballerina – it was an important ambition but I didn’t feel like I fit into the classes, I wanted to express the music and not just do the moves that the teacher taught.
Serena also started perforing at a very young age and the experience is a fond memory for her. 'On our first little concert we did the ‘Incy Wincy, Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini’ – we were all lined up in a row with a teacher on each end and one little girl stopped in her tracks and wet herself on the stage. A teacher danced off with her and then danced on with a mop while we kept dancing. It was hilarious and it taught me great lessons in life and entertainment about resourcefulness and that the show must go on.'
